Flint Township approves special use permit for 10,000-panel solar project (wnem.com) — A 10,000-panel solar farm is moving forward on a former landfill-turned-soccer field in Flint Township after planners approved a special use permit Thursday night. Developers say the above-ground project will feed power into the grid and reuse long-idle land, with more detailed plans expected before the next planning commission meeting on Jan. 8.

Jury convicts Flint woman of shoplifting more than $1,000 worth of clothing from Burton Meijer store (theflintcouriernews.com) — A Flint woman has been convicted of first-degree retail fraud for attempting to steal more than $1,000 in clothing from the Meijer store on Center Road in Burton. Genesee County prosecutors say store staff, asset protection, and police testimony tied her to the theft, and prior felony convictions mean she now faces a possible life sentence as a four-time habitual offender.
