Fireworks Explosion Kills Woman, Injures 9 In Ottawa County: Reports
The woman died at the scene of what one report said was a private fireworks display, the reports said.
OTTAWA COUNTY, MI β An exploding firework killed a 43-year-old woman and injured nine other people late Monday night in Ottawa County, according to reports.
The explosion happened just after 11 p.m. at a private event on Main Street in Park Township that had between 60 and 80 people in attendance, WoodTV 8 reported. At least one man suffered wounds to his head and one leg from shrapnel created by the explosion, the report said.
The woman who was killed was from Holland, the report said, quoting Ottawa County sheriffβs deputies. She has not been identified.

Nine other people had injuries ranging from critical to minor, ClickonDetroit reported; none of those victims were identified.
The explosion also damaged several cars and nearby homes, and blew out the windows of an SUV across the street, according to photos provided by Ottawa County sheriff's officers and published by ClickOnDetroit.

The explosion is still under investigation. Police encourage anyone with information to contact them at 616-738-4000.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported that fireworks accidents last year killed at least 11 people across the country and injured an estimated 10,200 others.
