Habitat for Humanity of Kent County Receives Grant from State Farm

Supporting affordable homeownership for more than 23 years.

Habitat for Humanity of Kent County has received a $10,000 grant from State Farm to support their building of affordable homes in Grand Rapids.

The funds from this grant will help Habitat Kent build and rehab 15 homes over the next year and provide affordable homeowner opportunities to families and individuals making up to 80% of the area median income.

Support from funders like State Farm help Habitat develop homes for affordable homeownership and ensure that mortgage payments are 30% or less of a household’s income.

“We are so grateful for State Farm’s continued support,” said Executive Director, Bev Thiel. “When we invest in affordable homeownership, we are investing in the long-term sustainability of our community. It’s clear that State Farm is committed to the communities we serve.”

In addition to providing homeownership opportunities, this grant will help Habitat provide financial education to the community and potential homebuyers.

Since 2001, Habitat for Humanity of Kent County has received more than $250,000 in grants from State Farm to support families in need of safe, stable, affordable homeownership.
