4 Metro Detroit Cities Reject Marijuana Retailers In 2023 Elections
Voters in four Metro Detroit cities rejected ordinances to allow marijuana retailers, according to unofficial vote totals.
METRO DETROIT — Three Oakland County cities and one in Wayne County rejected ordinances to allow marijuana retailers in their communities, according to unofficial vote totals in Tuesday's elections.
Voters in Birmingham, Grosse Pointe Park and Rochester soundly rejected the measure, along with voters in Keego Harbor, though the final tally was much closer, according to unofficial vote totals in Tuesday's elections.

Birmingham: 73 percent of voters rejected a proposal would allow one medical marijuana sales outlet and a second one for recreational sales, according to unofficial vote totals in Tuesday's elections.
Grosse Pointe Park: 77 percent of voters rejected the "Open Stores Ordinance," which would've allowed two sales outlets for recreational marijuana, according to unofficial vote totals in Tuesday's elections.66 percent of voters also rejected the proposed City Cannabis Licensing charter amendment, which also would've allowed two sales outlets for recreational marijuana but only after setting up a licensing process.

Keego Harbor: Three separate measures to allow recreational marijuana sales all failed: 53 percent voted against allowing one retailer, 61 percent voted against allowing a vote at the next general election to decide on sales and 60 percent voted against allowing two retailers with licensing rules, according to unofficial vote totals in Tuesday's elections.
Rochester: 89 percent voted against allowing three "adult-use" stores selling recreational marijuana and 87 percent voted against allowing a licensing and application process that would've allowed three retailers of recreational marijuana, according to unofficial vote totals in Tuesday's elections.
