11-7 Victory Over Harper Woods Completes Perfect 4-0 Record In District 6 Little League Tournament
Grosse Pointe Farms-City Little League 10U’s Road to The Little League State Tournament in Bay City
Grosse Pointe Farms-City’s (GPFCLL) 10U team is headed to the 8-9-10 Year Old Little League State Tournament in Bay City. The parade and banquet take place on July 27th, and games begin on July 28th. The State Championship game is scheduled for August 3rd. Sixteen Districts from across the State will be represented.
The following teams competed for the District 6 Title from July 7th through July 12th: Clinton Valley, Grosse Pointe Farms-City, Grosse Pointe Park, Grosse Pointe Woods-Shores, Harper Woods, L'anse Creuse, Macomb and Lac St. Clair. Grosse Pointe Park hosted the tournament at Art Getz Field.

Game 1 – Saturday, July 7th GPFCLL (away) vs. Harper Woods @ Art Getz Field in Grosse Pointe Park; 15-0 GPFCLL win

Starting Pitcher Ben Kocik earned the win. He combined with Chase Gordon, A.J. Zieleniewski and Jack Danielewicz for a 2-hit shutout.
Offensively:
· Trey Grabowski went 2-for-3 with 2 singles, a run scored and 2 RBI
· Ben Kocik went 3-for-4 with 2 singles, a double, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI
· Eugene Agnone went 1-for-1 with a bunt single, 2 walks and 2 runs scored
Game Summary:
· GPFCLL had a 5 run second inning where the entire 9-player order batted.
· The team had an 8 run third inning where 12 players batted
· The team batted 8 in the 4th inning to score two additional runs.
· Pitchers Ben Kocik, Chase Gordon, A.J. Zieleniewski and Jack Danielewicz combined for a 2-hit shutout.
· The game ended in a 4-inning 15-0 victory by mercy rule.
Game 2 – Sunday, July 8th GPFCLL (away) vs. Grosse Pointe Park @ Art Getz Field in Grosse Pointe Park; 13-1 GPFCLL win
Defensively:
Starting Pitcher Chase Gordon earned the win by surrendering one run over four innings. Griffin Marchal relieved Chase Gordon and closed out the game by allowing 0 hits with 3 strikeouts over two scoreless innings. The team turned 3 double plays.
Offensively:
· Ravi Hines went 2-for-4 with two singles, a walk and 3 runs scored
· A.J. Zieleniewski went 1-for-2 with a single and sacrifice fly, and two walks with 2 RBI with 1 run scored
· Ben Kocik went 3-for-5 with a single, 2 doubles and 2 RBI with 1 run scored
· Ben Gordon went 1-for-1 with a triple, a walk, and scored 1 run
· Griffin Marchal went 2-for-3 with 2 singles, a walk and 2 runs scored
Game Summary:
· Ravi Hines led off the game with a single for GPFCLL, and was then driven in by an A.J. Zieleniewski double.
· The score was tied at 1-1 in the 3rd Inning when Ben Gordon pinch hit for his brother, Starting Pitcher Chase, and launched a triple into the power alley in right-center; he was driven in by the next batter.

Defensively:
Starting Pitcher A.J. Zieleniewski earned the win by allowing 0 hits through 3 Innings and striking out 7 batters. A.J. Zieleniewski, Ravi Hines, Griffin Marchal and Ben Kocik combined for a 3-hitter with 9 strikeouts while surrendering 2 runs over 6 Innings. Right Fielder Jake Chaptini threw out the first batter in the top of the 6th Inning at First Base.
Offensively:
· Trey Grabowski went 3-for-3 with 3 singles, and 2 runs scored
· A.J. Zieleniewski went 1-for-2 with a walk, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI
· Ben Kocik went 2-for-3 with a single and a home run that sailed over the left field fence, scoring 1 run and adding 3 RBI

· Ravi Hines led off the bottom of the First Inning with a double, followed by consecutive base hits from Trey Grabowski, A.J. Zieleniewski and Ben Kocik. Three of these first four batters scored.
· With 2 outs in the 4th Inning, Trey Grabowski singled, A.J. Zieleniewski walked, and Ben Kocik hit a home run over the left field fence. GPFCLL took a 6-0 lead.
· A.J. Zieleniewski, Ravi Hines, Griffin Marchal and Ben Kocik combined for a 3-hitter with 9 strikeouts while surrendering 2 runs over 6 Innings.
Game 4 – Thursday, July 12th GPFCLL (away) vs. Harper Woods @ Art Getz Field in Grosse Pointe Park; 11-7 GPFCLL win
Defensively:
Starting Pitcher Chase Gordon earned the win by pitching 3 1/3 innings. Griffin Marchal came in during the 4th Inning and pitched 2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts to close out the victory. Griffin Marchal had great defense behind him with Jack Bullo making a remarkable catch in left field and A.J. Zieleniewski catching two fly balls to first base over the final two innings; the last one ended the game.
Offensively:
· Ravi Hines went 2-for-4 with 2 doubles and a walk; with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI
· A.J. Zieleniewski went 2-for-4 with a single and double, and 1 RBI
· Griffin Marchal went 2-for-3 with 2 singles, a walk, 3 runs scored and an RBI
· Andy Schmitt went 1-for-2 with a walk and 1 run scored
· Christian Peabody pinch hit and went 1-for-1 with a game winning RBI single
Game Summary:
· During the first inning, GPFCLL scored its first run after leadoff batter Ravi Hines walked, advanced to third base on passed balls, and scored when Trey Grabowski was thrown out attempting to steal second base (after reaching on an error).
· Andy Schmitt singled in the second inning and was driven home by a Ravi Hines double into the left-center field gap. A.J. Zieleniewski drove in Ravi Hines with an RBI single.
· Griffin Marchal walked in the 3rd Inning, took second base on a passed ball, and was driven home by a Ben Gordon single. Ben was batting for his twin brother, Starting Pitcher Chase.
· GPFCLL batted 8 hitters in the fourth inning. Trey Grabowski led off with a triple, and scored on an error from a hit off of Ben Kocik’s bat. Jack Danielewicz and Griffin Marchal both drew walks and eventually scored. Christian Peabody’s single scored Griffin Marchal for the game winning RBI.
· Eugene Agnone led off the 6th Inning with a single, followed by a Griffin Marchal single. Two outs later, Jake Chaptini singled in Eugene Agnone. Ravi Hines then doubled to drive in the final 2 runs for GPFCLL.
· Starting Pitcher Chase Gordon earned the win by pitching 3 1/3 innings. Griffin Marchal came in during the 4th Inning and pitched 2 scoreless innings with 2 strikeouts to close out the victory.
