Grosse Pointe Gathering
to benefit spiritual care at Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital
Tickets and sponsorship opportunities are now available for the 2nd annual Grosse Pointe Gathering on Thursday, July 24. The event will be held at the private lakeside residence of Darrene and Bill Baer in Grosse Pointe Shores. This festive summer evening will benefit the Grosse Pointe Spiritual Care Endowed Fund in Honor of Fr. Richard Bartoszek at Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital. The endowment helps to further integrate the medical and spiritual care needs of patients, families, and caregivers and enhance patient outcomes.
“We are very excited to be hosting this important fundraising event again,” said Darrene Baer, host and event co-chair. “Our guests last year really enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere to catch up with old friends and meet new neighbors and business contacts. We hope more residents will join us to do the same this year, all while supporting a very important program. Health care is vital to all of us and having a program in our neighborhood that helps to heal patients as a whole - physically, mentally and spiritually – is comforting.”
In its successful 2024 debut, the event raised more than $1.1 million to be put toward the $2 million goal for the spiritual care endowment fund. The fund supports many aspects of emotional care for patients, provided in tandem with their medical care, as well as care for hospital team members. Services include crisis intervention, communication with care givers, conflict resolution among patients and family, grief support and guidance, emotional and spiritual support for health care team members, and much more.

“Through the exceptional philanthropy of the attendees of last year’s Grosse Pointe Gathering, we were able to continue to provide spiritual care and guidance to patients and families of all religious traditions,” said Fr. Rich Bartoszek, chaplain, Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital. “Spirituality and faith are an important part of health and recovery. Funds raised through this event help to give us the tools we need to support those going through a difficult time.”
A fundraising committee comprised of Grosse Pointe community leaders is helping to make this event a success and includes Fr. Rich Bartoszek, Anne and Christopher Blake, Kirk and Michelle Haggarty, Julie and Matt Kornmeier, Mary Naz, and Theresa and Tony Selvaggio.
