Grosse Pointe Park Man Critically Injured in I-696 Crash

Man struck by car as he pushed disabled vehicle off of I-696 in Warren this morning.

A Grosse Pointe Park man is in critical condition after being struck early this morning by a car as he pushed a disabled vehicle off of Interstate 696 in Warren, according to the Detroit Free Press.

According to the report, the 27-year-old man is being treated at St. John Hospital and Medical Center in Detroit. The accident closed eastbound I-696 for about nine hours after the crash, which was reported at 3:18 a.m. today, according to the report, and the road reopened shortly after 9 a.m.

Two women in the vehicle that struck the Grosse Pointe Park man were being treated for their injuries at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, the report indicated. According to the report, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.Β
