'It's Free Speech': Grosse Pointe South Students Await Santorum
The Wednesday assembly has been the subject of controversy in recent days at the high school.

Buzz abounded before Rick Santorum’s speech at Grosse Pointe South, as students awaited the controversial appearance.
While converging for off-campus lunch break around 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, some teens said they were eager to hear from Santorum.
“I think it’s really cool that he could take the time and talk to us,” said freshman Zora Bowens, 15. “Even though there’s a lot of controversy around it, I’m still interested in hearing what he has to say.”

“I think that it’s good that they brought in a speaker,” she said. “I don’t agree with his views but it’s free speech.”
She said she didn’t agree with measures for restricted access at the assembly, adding that the student body should hear from Santorum and form their own opinions.
