Photo Gallery: Grosse Pointe Farms Beautification Winners
There were 10 residential and two business properties were recognized Thursday for their efforts to improve their properties.
The Beautification Commission named 12 winners for the 2011 beautification awards. Each was recognized Thursday.
Properties are nominated for consideration and the commission evaluates the nomination, the property itself and what measures have been taken to improve the aesthetics. The decision making process is intricate, especially because there is so much competition.
Residents and business owners may nominate their own properties or those of their neighbors or friends.

- the impact upon neighboring properties and the neighborhood
- whether it is viewable to the random passersby
- the year-round look of the property
