Police Blotter: 2 Arrested in Home Break-Ins

The following information is gathered from the public safety departments of the Grosse Pointes. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

police made two arrests in two home invasions.

In the first case, they arrested a 28-year-old Grosse Pointe Park man for illegal entry of a home in the 1200 block of Wayburn March 16 after a resident heard noises outside, got up to check on it and found the man in his hallway. The resident called 911 and officers arrested the man at the house, according to a report.

In the second case, they arrested a 19-year-old woman for home invasion hours later on Mach 16 after it was discovered she broke into a home in the 1400 block of Nottingham. She entered the home through an unlocked door and stole video games, clothes, a VCR and jewelry. The woman knows the homeowner, according to the report.

iPad Stolen from Classroom

Grosse Pointe Park police are investigating the theft of an Apple iPad from a classroom that happened between March 21 to 22. The iPad was last seen in the room about 3:15 p.m. on March 21 and it was reported stolen the next morning about 7:30 a.m. The school is not identified but it was from either Defer or Pierce, according to the address, which is the 15000 block of Kercheval Ave.

Drunk Driver Arrested

Grosse Pointe Park police arrested a 36-year-old Detroit woman for drunk driving March 17 near Mack Avenue and Wayburn. The circumstances leading to the arrest were not released but this is the third drunk driving offense for the woman, which elevates the charge to a felony.
