Woman Rescued After Driving Car Into Lake St. Clair In Grosse Pointe Farms: Police
She was taken to a nearby hospital for crash-related injuries, according to officials.
GROSSE POINTE FARMS, MI — A 70-year-old woman was pulled from Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe Farms after she drove her car into the water on Monday, according to officials.
At 8:20 a.m. Monday, officers found a small Kia car with its front end submerged in the water at a 45-degree angle from a retaining wall, according to officials.
As officers prepared to enter the water, they saw a body floating face down roughly 50 yards west of the crash site and about 30 feet from the shoreline, according to officials.

Officers secured the woman, turned her face up and brought her to shore, according to officials.
The 70-year-old woman was not breathing and had no pulse, but she slowly regained consciousness after officers performed CPR, according to officials.

She eventually told officers that she intentionally drove into the lake, according to officials.
She was taken to a nearby hospital for crash-related injuries, according to officials.
"The Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety would like to thank the concerned citizens who quickly dialed 911. Their swift action enabled our officers to arrive on the scene within two minutes, which was critical to the outcome of this incident," the Grosse Pointe Farms Department of Public Safety said in a statement.
