You're Invited: Grosse Pointe Perch Preview Party

The will unveil Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the in their completed form following weeks of work by artists.

The Perch are similar to the Grosse Pointe Frogs from several years ago. They will , when they will be auctioned off as a fundraiser for .

To kick off the campaign, the Chamber announced it at their annual awards dinner and it quickly took off. by a local business or family and then artists had to apply to decorate.

The design and decoration process by the artists for each fish is not widely known and Wednesday's preview party is the only time the Grosse Pointe Perch will be available for viewing in one location.

Throughout the summer the Perch are intended to draw people to visit the Grosse Pointes and merchants.

Wednesday's party will feature:

• A Fishbowl Raffle
• People's Choice Awards
• An activities map for children with the locations the perch will be placed

Among the 51 perch is one that was partially , whose education department put up a table in the Village earlier this summer asking passersby to decorate the tiles to be used on the fish.

Another perch whose decoration may have been spotted in progress comes from , where the artist decorated the fish in the store. Going with the bird theme, it is designed to be a "Woodroe."

Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the party.
