1. TheΒ Hartland Middle School has a faculty book club called the TAPER group.Β TAPER stands for β€œTeachers As Professional Education Readers." The goal of these TAPERΒ discussions is to develop β€œindividual expertness and foster the development of sharedΒ knowledge among members of the group.” 

2.Β Lakes ElementaryΒ PE teacher,Β Matt Conway, is challenging students (K-4) toΒ live a more active lifestyle, with his β€œDo it at Home” PE Fitness Calendar.Β The goal is toΒ encourage students to choose one (or more) of 99 suggested aerobic, muscular strength,Β endurance and flexibility fun activities to do at home each day for at least 30 minutes.Β Combined with recess time at school, this promotes the concept of getting out to β€œplay” for 60Β minutes every day.Β 

3. Hartland studentΒ Brett Furge built a paver patio in the Village ElementaryΒ courtyard as his Eagle Scout project,Β making the courtyard accessible to an entire class at a time.

4. All grade levels at Round ElementaryΒ are piloting Common Core Math Units this year.Β The District Math Project Committee has been working hard developing a new mathΒ curriculum that is transforming what we teach into a more critical thinking and deeperΒ meaning curriculum for our students.Β
