Here are the top three stories in Lansing-East Lansing today:

  1. The Michigan State University Board of Trustees declined to vote on whether or not to release around 6,000 documents related to former university employee Larry Nassar despite a renewed request from Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel. Nessel said of the decision, "With new leadership and new members, we expected more from the Board of Trustees, and hoped they were as dedicated to accountability and transparency for their student victims as the Department of Attorney General continues to be. We have made a sincere plea to every iteration of this board, and we will keep up this fight for transparency at every opportunity." (UpNorthLive.com)
  2. The Michigan State University Board of Trustees voted on Friday to approve an increase in room and board rates for incoming freshmen for the 2023-2024 academic school year. First-year students will pay an increase of 6.95 percent in room and board fees for a total cost of living for the academic year of $11,754. (FOX 47 News Lansing - Jackson)
  3. The I-496 ramp onto northbound US-127 was closed on Friday for the ramp reconstruction project, resulting in traffic backups throughout the nearby area. The Michigan State University Department of Police and Public Safety warned the surrounding community of the backups, which are especially affecting Trowbridge Road, Harrison Road, and the Kalamazoo Street Corridor near Michigan State University's Campus. The ramps will be closed until Friday, Jun. 30 for the project, and motorists are encouraged to be aware of detours to avoid the area. (FOX 47 News Lansing - Jackson)
