Here are the top three stories today in Lansing-East Lansing:
- The Lansing Police Department announced that it has begun a "maximum enforcement period" that will continue for the next couple of weeks, during which officers will be cracking down on drivers who are speeding, driving recklessly, or involved in other traffic offenses. The department is partnering with the Office of Highway Safety Planning to ensure that there will be more officers out on patrol to catch drivers. (WILX)
- The U.S. News & World Report recently released a list of the top graduate programs in the U.S., and four programs from Michigan State University (MSU) made the top of the list. Three graduate programs from the College of Education made the top of the list for the fifth year in a row, and the supply chain and logistics graduate program made the top spot for the seventh year in a row. The nuclear physics graduate program dropped to spot number two after being number one for 13 years. Many other programs were ranked on the list ranging anywhere from No. 2 to No. 22 on the lists. - McAlister’s Deli is relocating to a different location here in Lansing. The restaurant's current location at 2901 Preyde Boulevard will close its doors at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, Apr. 28. Its new location on 2129 Lake Lansing Road, about .06 miles away, will host an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 4 at 10:00 a.m. (WILX)
