Girl Scouts Collect Pet Products for Area Animal Rescues

Amid the hundreds of collections and donation drives held for men, women and children in need during the holiday season, man's best friend is often forgotten.

Members of Junior Girl Scout Troop 70329 from are focusing their efforts to ensure our animal friends are not ignored this year.

Through Dec. 29, the troop will collect new and gently used collars, leashes, blankets and towels as well as dog and cat food (dry and canned), litter, toys and monetary donations for selected rescues that place homeless cats and dogs in foster homes while they wait to be adopted into their permanent homes.

The troop will also use a portion of its proceeds from recent nut, candy and magazine sales to purchase additional supplies for the rescues.

Donations may be dropped off at , 48884 Romeo Plank, in Macomb Township.
