Chippewa Valley Appoints Roberts Interim Superintendent

The Chippewa Valley Schools Board of Education has named Ron Roberts as its interim superintendent, following current superintendent for Macomb County.

Roberts, who is currently the assistant superintendent of educational services, will replace Deldin in January.

"Ron Roberts is a highly skilled, accessible and effective leader who is committed to academic excellence," Deldin said, in a release. "I am confident he will do an exceptional job for the children and families of Chippewa Valley Schools."

Roberts, 55, started in Chippewa Valley Schools as an elementary teacher. In 2004, he was promoted to his current position as assistant superintendent. 

As assistant superintendent, Roberts oversees 22 district buildings, administrative staff, curriculum development and day-to-day operations.

In his role as top curriculum administrator for the district, Roberts is credited with development of the ninth-grade centers, a Medical Careers Academy and the addition of the International Academy of Macomb to Chippewa Valley Schools.

"We're excited to have someone with Ron's outstanding credentials, extensive experience, and obvious commitment to our district serve as our interim superintendent," said Henry Chiodini, board president, in a release.

Roberts is a two-term past president and current executive board member for the Macomb Association of Curriculum Administrators. 

He received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Oakland University, a master's degree in teaching from Saginaw Valley State University and an education specialist degree from Michigan State University. 

The Board of Education named Roberts interim superintendent during its meeting on Dec. 13.

Roberts will start his duties on Jan. 21, Deldin's official last day with the district.
