Macomb County Deputy Injured In High Speed Chase
A deputy was injured when his patrol car struck another vehicle during a police chase.
MACOMB COUNTY, MI -- During a police chase that began in Macomb Township Saturday and ended near the Madison Heights border, a Macomb County Sheriff’s deputy collided with another vehicle, totaling the patrol car. According to the C&G Newspapers, the deputy attempted a routine traffic stop on Hall Road in Macomb Township, but the driver fled, crossing lanes of traffic, hitting another car, and losing an attached trailer, which remained in the road blocking traffic.
The suspect eventually made his way to I-94, eventually going off the roadway and into Mount Clemens. While pursuing the suspect, one of the sheriff’s deputies struck with another car on Gratiot Avenue. The other driver was uninjured, but the deputy, a 16-year veteran of the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department, remains hospitalized.
The sheriff’s department was forced to suspended its pursuit by the collision, and Sterling Heights police also had to give up a second pursuit at I-696 in Warren. A Warren Police sergeant who’d followed the chase without lights and from a distance was able to keep tabs on the suspect, eventually arresting him when he stopped to fix a flat tire at the Warren/Madison Heights border.

The suspect, Hilario Ivan Carmona, 31, was arraigned March 26 and is also wanted on warrants from Texas. He remains at the Macomb County Jail.
