Man Helps Police Capture Himself
Algonac man arrested for filming under women's dresses and inadvertently films himself

Macomb County Sheriff Deputies were on hand to greet Algonac resident Steven Scott Lipa Friday, Oct. 30, as he exited a plane at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
Instead of welcoming the 44-year-old man home, deputies placed Lipa under arrest, and he now faces two counts of surveilling an unclothed person, a two-year felony, according to a Detroit Free Press report.
Lipa allegedly strapped a camera to his shoe, or lower leg, and secretly captured images under the skirt or dress of a pair of women at a Lenox Township Meijer store.

Detectives were notified of the possible crime after a complaint came into the department’s Macomb Area Computer Enforcement until in September.
A data-storage device turned over to deputies contained the images — and an image of Lipa as he strapped the camera on his shoe or lower leg.

“I think he inadvertently filmed himself,” Sheriff’s Lt. John Michalke told the Free Press.
According to police, the incidents occurred in May of 2014.
Lipa posted a $50,000 bond after a Oct. 31 hearing.
His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 9 in 42-4 District Court in New Baltimore.
