5 Spring Break 'Staycation' Ideas

If you're looking for activities in Northville to keep your kids busy during spring break, we've got you covered.

Northville Public Schools are closed this week for spring break. If you and your kids are spending the vacation in town, here are a few ideas for what you can do.

5. Movies & Munchies for Kids at the Northville District Library

Take a movie break from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Northville Distric Library. The library will show Puss in Boots and provide snacks and beverages. Children of all ages are welcome, but those under 4 years old must attend with a caregiver. 

4. Visit the Northville Art House

Bring out your artistic side and check out the exhibits by local artists at the Northville Art House. You can also register yourself and your children for some art classes while you're there.

3. Enjoy the spring weather at Northville's Parks

There is expected to be some sunny and warmer days later in the week, according to the National Weather Service:

  • Wednesday: sunny, with a high near 41
  • Thursday: mostly sunny, with a high near 51
  • Friday: mostly sunny, with a high near 49
  • Saturday: mostly sunny, with a high near 51

Take advantage of the weather and visit one of Northville's parks to bike, run, play and get some fresh air.

2. Visit the Fairy Doors in Downtown Northville

The tiny fairy doorways are hidden on the inside and outside of stores on Main, Center and other mid-town streets at more than 50 downtown businesses. Read more about how they came here.

1. Give Back and Clean Up

Join other volunteers 5:30 p.m. Thursday to clean up the I-275 Metro Trail.  The group will be picking up a winter’s worth of accumulated trash on the Livonia section of the trail south of 8 Mile Road. Volunteers are asked to bring work gloves and meet on the trail or in the Meijer parking lot in Northville.
