Accused Northville Teen Forbidden to See Minors

A pre-trial hearing for Northville resident Joseph Miklos has been postponed to allow for more time for discovery.

Miklos, 18, an 11-year-old boy to his house where he "engaged in unwanted sexual contact," according to city of Northville police.

Miklos and boy were in the basement of the house on July 25 when Miklos is accused of asking the 11-year-old to engage in a sex act, according to a city press release. The boy refused.

Miklos appeared in 35th District Court Monday morning, along with his attorney and the prosecutor before Judge James Plakas. While the hearing was postponed, additional terms were added to Miklos' bond.

His bond already included that he wear a GPS tracking tether and was not allowed to have contact with the 11-year-old boy.

On Monday the court added that Miklos is not allowed to have contact with anybody younger than 18 years of age unless one of his parents is present to supervise. The judge also said that Miklos is only allowed to talk to his 17-year-old girlfriend on the phone if her parents give their consent each time.

After having a discussion with both attorneys and a representative from the in his chambers, Plakas said that the court will decide if they can add an exception to Miklos' probation to allow him to go back to and be around minors on Sept. 4.

The court will address the issue on Aug. 31 after Miklos and his parents are expected to meet with the school district.
