Burned-Out Headlight Leads to Marijuana Arrest in Northville Township

Police recover grinder, baggie with marijuana during traffic stop.

Northville Township Police stopped a driver in a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier on March 8 that had a burned-out headlight, according to a police report.

The driver told police he was aware of the burned-out light but told police sometimes if he kicks the light, it works, the report indicated.

According to the report, the officer could detect the strong odor of what appeared to be marijuana and the driver admitted he and a friend had smoked about two bowls. He gave police a red tube from beneath the driver’s seat.

According to the report, the red tube contained a light green marijuana grinder and a plastic baggie with a green leafy substance the later tested positive as marijuana.

Police arrested the man on a charge of marijuana possession with a March 27 court date at 35th District Court, the report indicated.
