Crime Report: Detroit Teens Arrested, Accused of Stealing Car in Northville

The following information was supplied by the City of Northville Police Department and Northville Township's Public Safety Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Teens accused of stealing car

A man working at the Mobil gas station on Eight Mile and Taft reported that his car was stolen while he worked on Feb. 24, according to a city of Northville police report.

He told police that he left $1,000 in cash in the car when it was stolen. He also said that the key was left in the car and that it may have been unlocked.

Later in the day, Southfield Police reported that the car was in a lot at the Northland Mall. According to the report: police waited for someone to return to the vehicle. Three Detroit teens returned to the car with shopping bags and began to drive away when they were approached by police.

They were arrested and the car was returned to the owner with most of the money left inside.

Thefts reported at Planet Fitness

The wallets of three women were reported stolen at on Feb. 23, according to city police reports. The women told police they left the wallets in their purses while they worked out and that they were stolen.

Two of three women's debit cards were used at stores that neighbored each other.

"It is highly likely that whoever is responsible for one is responsible for all of them," according to the report. A man and a woman were spotted using one of the cards on a surveillance camera.

Debit card holder reports fraudulent use

A Northville resident reported to city police that her card was used illegally in Georgia. According to city police reports, "It is unknown how the suspects acquired the debit card info."

Cell phone reported stolen

A resident on the 41000 block of Knightsford Road reported to police that a cell phone was stolen from his car sometime before Feb. 22. According to township police reports, the car was in a garage when the break-in occurred.

Trespassers arrested on warrants

Two men were arrested at the Seven Mile property, the former psychiatric hospital, on Feb. 24, according to township police reports. The two were spotted on the loading dock of one of the buildings when they were approached by police. According to the report, the two had outstanding warrants and were arrested. They were also cited for trespassing.

Theft reported at Maybury State Park

A woman jogging at Maybury State Park on Feb. 22 reported to police that someone had smashed in the window of her car. According to the police report, her GPS was stolen from the car's center console.

Four cited for trespassing

Township police cited four people on Feb. 25 for trespassing at the Seven Mile property, according to township police reports. They told police they were "ghost hunting."

Wallet reported stolen from woman at Kroger

A woman working at the Kroger on Haggerty reported to police that the wallet in her coat pocket was stolen on Feb. 26, according to the police report. She left it on a cart as she moved about the shelves in the store. Inside were credit cards and her license.

Car reported keyed

According to township police reports, a car was keyed while parked at Kohl's on Feb. 27.

Car break-in reported at Meijer

A man reported to township police that the window to his car was broken and his briefcase stolen. According to the police report, the briefcase contained a laptop, passport, iPod and headphones.
