Crime Report: Rollover Accident, Thefts From Vehicles Reported

Speeding a factor in rollover accident

A 17-year-old Northville Township woman was taken to the hospital after her car rolled over while driving eastbound on Six Mile Road on Jan. 11 around 3:30 p.m., according to Northville Township police reports.

The listed cause of the accident is "speed too fast," according to the report. The accident occurred near the intersection of Northville Trail and closed part of Six Mile for a short time.

According to the police report: She lost control of the vehicle, hitting the right curb. The vehicle then veered to the north side of Six Mile and rolled over on the opposite side of the street. Alcohol was not a factor.

"No citation was issued due to single vehicle and no public or private property damaged," according to the report.

Accused shoplifter arrested at Kohl's

A 39-year-old Northville woman was arrested on Jan. 16 after police say she stole $65 in jewelry, makeup and other items from , according to police reports.

Store security told township police that the woman was seen taking the items out of their packaging and hiding them in her coat pocket. She was arrested, cited for shoplifting and is due to appear in the 35th District Court in February.

Vehicle break-ins reported

  • A resident of the apartments reported to police that her iPod, GPS, ear buds and car charger had been stolen from her car. The incident occurred in the overnight hours of Jan. 10. She told police the weather seal at the base of the driver's side window showed signs of tampering.
  • An employee at the Senate Coney Island reported to township police that her purse was stolen from her vehicle on Jan. 11. No vehicle damage was reported.

Seven Mile property trespassers cited

Five people between the ages of 22-24 years old were cited for trespassing on the Seven Mile property, the former psychiatric hospital, on Jan. 14.

According to police reports, they said they were Eastern Michigan University students who were taking photos.

They are due to appear in the 35th District Court in February.
