Traffic Stops Leads to Marijuana Arrest in Northville Township

Report: Police recover marijuana, paraphernalia after stopping driver for speeding.

A March 7 traffic stop on Tournament Drive just west of Sheldon Road in Northville Township yielded a marijuana arrest, according to a police report.

According to the report, Northville Township Police stopped a driver in a Ford Fiesta going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone. When the officer approached the driver, he could detect what smelled like marijuana, the report indicated.

The woman told police she had a small amount of marijuana, the report indicated, and she handed police a prescription bottle without a label, a grinder and rolling papers from her handbag.

The woman told police she had not smoked marijuana since the day before and according to the report, she appeared sober.

Police also found a pipe, a cigarette-rolling device and a lighter in her handbag, as well as two baggies with a small amount of marijuana still inside, the report indicated.

Police arrested the woman on charges of narcotic possession and for speeding. She was given a March 27 court date at 35th District Court in Plymouth.
