15 Accounting Jobs in the Novi Area: Solid Salaries Highlight Field

METRO DETROIT, MI — There’s good news for students thinking about a career in accounting, or those already in the market for a job in the field: steady growth is projected with solid starting salaries and the potential to earn much more.

With a median salary of more than $67,000, an unemployment rate of just 2.5 percent and an annual 11 percent growth rate projected through 2024, accounting appears to be a wise career choice, according to a recent U.S. News and World Report study. While the field generally requires at least a bachelor’s degree for an entry level position, advanced degrees tend to be rewarded, the report says. It notes that accountants in the top 75th percentile of the field average about $90,000 a year in salary.

And the good news doesn’t stop there. Accountants enjoy high upward mobility, with above average flexibility and average levels of stress. Overall, accounting ranked No. 6 in the U.S. News and World Report study of business jobs with a ranking of 6.7 out of 10. Statistician notched the top ranking with an 8.1.
