Holocaust Memorial Center Celebrates Holocaust Hero Raoul Wallenberg
The Farmington Hills museum offers free admission July 29-Aug. 5, and events will be held in Novi and other nearby towns.

The will present a special exhibit and a full week of programs honoring Swedish diplomat and Holocaust hero Raoul Wallenberg, July 29-Aug. 5.
One event will be held at in Novi on Aug. 1.
Celebrating the centennial of Wallenberg’s birth, the exhibit and programs will shed light on the life, courage and Michigan connections of a man who rescued thousands of Jews in Nazi-occupied Hungary. While serving as Sweden's special envoy in Budapest between July and December 1944, Wallenberg issued protective passports and sheltered Jews in buildings designated as Swedish territory saving tens of thousands of lives.

In 1945, during the Seige of Budapest by the Red Army, he was detained by Soviet authorities on suspicion of espionage and subsequently disappeared.
Authors Louise Borden (His Name Was Raoul Wallenberg) and Morris Wolff (Whatever Happened to Raoul Wallenberg?) will be among the presenters during a week of programming taking place at various locations throughout metro Detroit. The schedule includes:
