Letter to the Editor: Cassis Write-in Candidacy Supports Tough Laws on Illegal Immigration

To the Editor:

Nancy Cassis supports Arizona’s and Governor Jan Brewer’s attempts to halt the flood of people crossing the border illegally. I don’t know about you, but I agree with Nancy Cassis. I think Americans deserve better security against illegal people crossing our borders. What we need are fences, more trained border patrol agents and a more secure border.

Nancy Cassis is the proven, principled conservative running in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District. She is a tireless advocate for taxpayers, small business and families. Please don’t forget to write-in NANCY CASSIS on your August 7 Republican primary ballot. Ms. Cassis has a solid, proven track record of public service.

Sadly, that’s not the case with Ms. Cassis’ opponent, Kerry Bentivolio, who has no record of public service. Mr. Bentivolio also is on record as favoring the elimination of border controls. He stated that he opposes state initiatives, like Arizona’s, to control illegal immigration. That sounds like President Obama, who also seeks to weaken our ability to control illegal immigration and favors allowing our borders to become open and insecure.

Ms. Cassis doesn’t take this primary election lightly. She is ready, willing and most able to debate her opponent, Kerry Bentivolio. But he’s refused to do it. Why? Perhaps it’s because Mr. Brentivolio lacks the experience and expertise that we demand from our candidates in the 11st District.

America is a country built by legal immigrants. We are a nation of laws and must continue to be such. Ms. Cassis will work to make sure that our system of granting citizenship is simple, thorough, and does not reward those whose first action in America is to break our laws and enter illegally. She wants a system that rewards those who have followed our laws and seek to come here legally.

It sounds like Ms Cassis is looking out for you – and me.

For these reasons, I’m voting for write-in candidate NANCY CASSIS in her quest to become a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, serving Michigan’s the 11 th District in western Wayne and Oakland counties. I hope you support her too. She will represent us well.
