Officers were called to the home after the Bilbia's girlfriend said she couldn't reach him for some time, prosecutors said.

Investigators found Bilbia dead inside the home and said Molinaro killed him in a "violent attack." They did not share additional details about the attack.

Prosecutors said Molinaro had previously dated Bilbia's girlfriend. The woman had recently gotten a personal protection order against Molinaro, prosecutors said.

Officers arrested Molinaro at a Royal Oak club on New Year's Eve, prosecutors said.

"Peyton Bilibia should be with us today," Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a statement on Monday. "Instead, his life was cut short because of what appears to be a domestic dispute. This case is a tragic reminder that the danger from domestic violence doesn’t end when a relationship ends."
