Novi Public Library to Lead Michigan Day Trips

Trips are planned to Holly, Lansing and Detroit.

The is starting a new program called "On the Road", in which participants can travel on day trips to Holly, Lansing and Detroit.

The tours will be led by Oakland County Commissioner and Novi resident Kathy Crawford and Novi Public Library Assistant Director of Public Services Margi Karp-Opperer.

Tours are for adults 18 and older and will include lunch and motor coach transportation.

The On the Road series begins with a patriot day in Holly on Sept. 11. This trip includes a guided tour of the Great Lakes National Cemetery; an elegant Queen Anne luncheon at the Historic Holly Hotel; and options to explore the Hadley House Museum and Detroit Model Railroad Club, meet local authors/historians/crafters, and shopping. The motor coach will depart the at 8:15 a.m. and return at approximately 5 p.m. The cost of the trip is $73, which covers transportation, lunch, door prizes, shopping coupons, and admission fees. Availability is limited, so early registration by calling Novi Public Library administration at 248-869-7204 is highly recommended.

The series continues with a day trip to Lansing on Oct. 4, featuring guided tours of the State Capitol and State Supreme Court; a visit/photo opportunity with State Representative Hugh Crawford; and a luncheon at the English Inn.

Then on Nov. 2, travel to Detroit with a docent presentation and tour of the Detroit Institute of Arts’ Faberge: Rise and Fall special exhibit; luncheon at the renowned Rattle Snake Club; and motor coach tour highlighting Detroit’s architecture.
