Seminars Aim To Stop Scams, Identity Theft Among Older Novi Adults
A Novi Police Detective will give the presentation from 1-3 p.m. at the Novi Civic Center on April 20.

NOVI, MI — This spring, the City of Novi’s Older Adult Services Department is partnering with Ascension-St. John Providence Community Health and the Novi Police Department to help residents protect their identity and stay healthy.
On March 30, older adults can learn about the potential benefits, regulations and safety of common herbals, vitamins and mineral supplements. In the Myths and Benefits Related to Dietary Supplements Workshop, seniors will learn how to learn dispel the myths. The workshop is free and presented by Beth Theisen, RN from Ascension-St. John Providence Community Health. Pre-registration is required by calling SJP CareLink at 1.888.751.5465. The workshop will be held from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the Novi Civic Center.
All around the country, older adults are often the targets of unscrupulous scam artists, and Novi is no exception. Older Adult Services is partnering with the Novi Police Department to offer a Financial Crimes, Scams and Identity Theft seminar on identity theft and financial crimes/scams on April 20.

Novi Det. Jeremy Stempien, an expert in this area, will give the presentation from 1-3 p.m. at the Novi Civic Center and will talk about identity theft, credit card fraud, check fraud, and tax fraud. He will also talk about common scams seen by Novi Police online and over the phone. Learn what you can do to protect yourself as well as actions you can take if you suspect that you have been scammed. Pre-registration is required by calling 248.347.0414.
