Woman Arrested for Having Dangerous Drugs; Novi Party Busted

A 26-year-old woman from Westland was arrested on charges of retail fraud, possession of marijuana, and dangerous drugs after police caught her shoplifting a notebook from Rite Aid on July 22, according to a police report.

The police were dispatched to Rite Aid on 10 Mile Road at 9 a.m. after an employee saw a woman put something in her purse, the report said. The officer stopped the two females as they left the store; one woman was found with a $4 notebook, which she said was a mistake and that she forgot she put it in her purse, the report said. The officers also found a black case in her purse that contained a small amount of marijuana and narcotic paraphernalia, the report said.

The woman was arrested on charges of retail fraud of the second degree and on charges of possession of marijuana, the report said. The other woman said she did not take anything and was released.

At the police department, the officers also found an unmarked bottle of pills in the women’s purse. The woman said they were Xanax, for which she did not have a prescription, the report said. The woman also faces dangerous drugs charges, the report said.

Female arrested for MIP while having a party

A 19-year-old Novi female was arrested on charges of a minor in possession of alcohol after police broke up a party on Wintergreen Circle at 12:30 a.m. on July 22, according to a police report.

Four officers were dispatched to the residence for a possible underage drinking party, the report said. After nobody answered the doorbell for several minutes, one male exited the back of the house, and police asked him to go inside and get the owner, the report said

The resident was a 19-year-old female whose parents were out of town. Police found her blood-alcohol level to be 0.157, the report said. After gaining permission to enter the house, police said they did not see any underage drinking and that several people were 21 or older, the report said. The police asked everyone to leave, the report said.

The 19-year-old resident was then arrested on charges of a minor in possession of alcohol, the report said.

The officers also found a 16-year-old girl lying on the bedroom floor upstairs and vomiting on the floor, the report said. Per her request, she was transported to Providence Hospital.

Porch statue shattered, left in road

A man reported that his neighbor’s statue of a butler holding a tray was found broken into pieces in the street in front of his house on Summer Lane on July 22, according to a police report. The man and his wife noticed the broken statue in the road that morning, but said it had not been there the night before, the report said. The report said the statue was broken into hundreds of pieces and was beyond repair.

The woman who owns the three-foot statue said it was given to her by her father and that it was valued at $250, the report said. She had it on the front porch. She is currently leasing the residence and is slowly moving in; she was not at the house the night of July 21, the report said.

According to the police report, there has been a random act of property damage in the neighborhood before.
