Woman's Rings Stolen During MRI; Mailbox Damaged by Fireworks

A woman reported that her two gold rings with diamonds were stolen while she was getting an MRI at Providence Park Hospital on July 26, according to a police report. The 46-year-old Lansing woman went to get her MRI around 9 a.m. and the nurses asked her to take her rings off; one nurse put them in a bag and placed them in a drawer, the report said. After the MRI was complete, the woman said one of the nurses took her to the drawer to retrieve her rings, but they were gone, the report said. Security was called, and they are doing their own investigation, the report said. The rings are valued at $2,000, the report said.
Man Arrested on Marijuana Selling Charges
A 22-year-old Walled Lake man was arrested on charges of possessing marijuana with the intent to sell and of retail fraud of the third degree on July 24, according to a police report. The man was first stopped by a loss prevention officer at Sears at 3:30 p.m. after the officer watched the male conceal earrings in his pants pockets and leave the store without paying, the report said. Sears called the Novi police, who arrested the man on charges of retail fraud.
At the Novi Police Station, the officer found a marijuana grinder, scale, glass jar and multiple small baggies in the man’s backpack. One baggie contained 0.6 grams of marijuana, the report said.

When interviewed, the male said he buys small quantities of marijuana and sells parts of it to make up for the purchase price, the report said. The male said the marijuana he had that day was for personal use, the report said.
Mailbox Damaged by Fireworks
A resident reported that their mailbox was damaged by fireworks on July 28, according to a police report. The resident said that someone put fireworks in the mailbox on Rathlone Drive between 11 and 11:30 p.m., the report said. No suspects or vehicles were seen in the area, the report said.

iPhones Stolen from Car
Two people reported that their iPhones were stolen from their car while it was parked outside of Jimmy John’s on Beck Road, according to a police report. The two parked the car around 3:45 p.m. on July 29 and went in to pick up their food, leaving the windows down and their phones in the counsel, the report said. When they returned, their phones were gone, the report said. The two said they saw four young males riding their bikes through the area and thought maybe they did it, the report said. An officer checked the area but could not find any suspects, witnesses or evidence, the report said. The plaza does not have any surveillance cameras, and nobody answered the phones when they were called, the report said.
