Works from Three Local Artists on Display at Novi Civic Center
The "Figures and Forms" exhibit runs through Sept. 20.
Novi is hosting artwork by Kathleen Boettcher, Patricia Dombecki, and Peter Lichomski in the Atrium Gallery through Sept. 20.
Boettcher is a former art teacher who fell in love with creating art at a very young age. She puts her experience to use by creating life-like scenes using pastels and various types of paint. Her future goals include doing some larger scale pieces and abstraction. Kathleen is actively involved in many art groups and societies throughout Metro Detroit.
Dombecki is a well accomplished artist who uses mixed media and collage to create her artwork. Her style allows for plenty of creativity while offering the appropriate amount of control over the composition in her pieces. Her hands-on approach to art is one that she also carries with her throughout life. This allows her to enjoy the experience and challenge of working with materials while being physically active.
Lichomski was born in Warsaw, Poland and focuses primarily on watercolor painting. He has won numerous awards for his artwork. When creating pieces, Lichomski lets the paint move freely on the paper to create the sky, sea and large surfaces. Much of the remainder of the piece is about silhouettes with shadowing being the finishing touch to his watercolor pieces.
Upcoming exhibits in the Novi Civic Center Atrium Gallery include pieces from Colored Pencil Society in October and ArtsNovi in November.
The Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Department is currently seeking artists for Novi Civic Center Atrium Gallery shows in 2013. Applications will be accepted through Sept. 30. Please contact Stephanie Schuetzler at sschuetzler@cityofnovi.org to request an application form.
