Book Lovers Welcome Little Library to Town
Cranberry Lake Farms now home to Little Library

Popping up all over the area are reading delights known simple as, “Little Libraries.”
Small case-like structures, many elaborately designed and decorated, and all filled with library books for residents and book-lovers to “check-out” and return.
Oakland Township’s Cranberry Lake Farm is now home to one such “Little Library,” thanks to the combined efforts of the Oakland Township Historic District Commission and the Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library.
The HDC funded the construction of the library on the grounds of the 16-acre farm, with Dick Dwyer and Roger Kurrasch designing, building and painting the structure.
Dwyer and Kurrasch constructed the little library to be a replica of the Flumerfelt Farm.
The Friends of the Rochester Hills Public Library donated the books — and titles range from Scouting Manuals to Plywood Derby Designs to History of the World.
“We enjoy supporting programs that foster a love of reading,” RHFPL member Mark Pierce said.
The Little Library at Cranberry Lake will be routinely monitored by volunteers.
