Looking for an Adventure? Check Out These Orion Library Programs

Libraries such as the Orion Township Public Library are a great resource to research or to borrow multimedia, but did you know the library also boasts plenty of free or low-cost programs?

In addition to you or your child finding your next adventure in a paperback, check out these programs coming up in the next few days at the Orion Township Public Library, 825 Joslyn Road in Lake Orion.

1. Youth Book Bingo
Play traditional Bingo and win books! Bring a friend for a free, fun-filled morning. Runs from 10-10:45 a.m. on Aug. 3 and is open to library users in grade K-5. Adults and seniors can try their hand at some free books from 7-8:30 p.m. on Aug. 12.

2. Disaster Survival Tips
Do you have what it takes to survive a disaster? Earlier this week we profiled an Aug. 3 event that prepares teens for creating a "bug-out-bag" to survive 72 hours after a disaster. So if your son or daughter anticipates a looming apocalypse, they might as well prepare correctly. Read more info in our previous story here.

3. Fossil Handprints and Footprints
Area youths can learn how a fossil is formed and create their own garden stone with their hand or footprint "fossil" from 2-2:45 p.m. on Aug. 6. For more details, check here

4. Seniors: Enjoy Doughnuts, Coffee and a Movie
On the first Wednesday of each month, local seniors can enjoy doughnuts, coffee and a free matinee movie at the library. The next showing is from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Aug. 7 in Meeting Room A of the library. The movie will be decided by audience preference. Check here for more details.

5. Summer Pajama Rama
Youths of all ages are invited to deck themselves out in their pajamas and enjoy an evening story time featuring bedtime stories and songs in the craft room of the library from 7-7:30 p.m. on Aug. 13. Check here for more details.
