Police Blotter: Burglars Steal Shotgun, Laptop and $6K in Gold Coin

Costume jewelry stolen from home

A resident on Silverbell Road is missing a jewelry box, about 30 earrings and about 20 gold broach pins after someone broke into her home late Friday morning while she was out of town, according to sheriff's office reports.

The burglar had forced the main front entry door open and had left it leaning against the door frame from the inside, according to the report. It appeared that window screens had also been tampered with.

The case is still open at this time.

Laptop, shotgun and $6,000 in gold coins stolen during move

A man in the Silvercreek subdivision was moving from one condominium to another down the street Saturday afternoon when he said someone stole his laptop and shotgun, according to an Oakland County Sheriff's Office report.

Inside the shotgun case were six "South African coins (Krugerrand) which were 1-ounce coins (that) had a total value of $6,000," according to the report.

There are no suspects at this time.

Vandals damage PT Cruiser

On Sunday night, a resident on Pine Needle Drive reported damage to the driver's side mirror and rear passenger door of her 2010 PT Cruiser, which was parked outside her home, according to a sheriff's office report. There are no suspects at this time.

Burglar enters home through unlocked window

A resident on Brewster Road reported someone entered his home Thursday afternoon through an unlocked window on the east side of the home, according to a sheriff's office report. The screen was removed, though nothing appeared missing.

Security cameras on the west side of the home captured a man peering through the front door, then trying to open the south gate. He then left in a white or silver vehicle, according to the report.
