Canton Chiefettes Pom Teams Earn Awards at Summer Camp
Both Varsity and Junior Varsity took home the Grand Champions Awards in their divisions.

Canton High School Varsity and Junior Varsity Chiefettes recently attended Mid-American Pompon Dance and High Kick camp at Davenport University. Both teams earned the Grand Champions Award in their divisions.
The Grand Champions Award is earned by a team that demonstrates speed learning, kick line and original routine categories.
The Varsity Pom team also boasts first place in Senior Kick line, Overall Peppy Pom award and had 14 team members chosen on the Mid American All-Star team.
Pompon performances are a team performance filled with movements, ripples, and formations completed in a precise, sharp, and an entertaining manner.
Judges use the following areas of criteria for evaluation: appearance, form,
execution, skill level of ability/talent, formations/transitions, skill of Kick line, choreography, use of poms, team unity, precision, rhythm and timing, smiles and showmanship, overall impression and mistakes.
Summer camp is a great way for teams to start the year with fresh routines, team bonding, and memories to last a lifetime. The Varsity and JV Chiefette teams made the most of their time at camp this year and look forward to an exciting year of performances including Football games, Soccer games, Variety Show, and Competitions.
The Chiefettes will also perform at the Fall Festival in Plymouth on Sept. 7 at Kellogg Park.
Pom is a rigorous sport which includes year-round daily practices of two and a half hours, complete with intense conditioning and choreography.
