Drunken Panhandler Arrested With Pants Around His Ankles

The pants dropper was not charged with a fashion crime.

CANTON, MI — An allegedly drunken panhandler was busted by Canton police, who said he was walking around a parking lot asking for money with his pants down to his ankles. While no fashion crime charges were filed, the pants dropper was charged with disturbing the peace.

Canton police were notified by a witness at 8:25 p.m. on Oct. 19 that a 35-year-old man was reportedly waltzing in front of cars with his pants to the ground asking for dough in a retail shopping center northeast of Ford and Sheldon roads. The witness also revealed the man had taken off his sweater.

When police arrived on the scene, the pants dropper was with a female companion, a 35-year-old Canton woman, who was very forthright and promptly reported the two of them had urinated behind the building.

A breathalyzer test revealed the man’s blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit of .08 percent, and the woman’s was more than four times the legal limit.

The woman was treated at a hospital and the man was arrested for disturbing the peace.
