Gunman Arrested After Hours-long Standoff With Police In Wayne County: Cops
Police said the 35-year-old man was having a mental health episode and that they had been called to the home before.
LIVONIA, MI — A man was peacefully arrested Wednesday night after an hours-long standoff with officers in Livonia, according to police.
The incident started at 10 a.m. when officers were called to a home on Ann Arbor Trail near Wayne Road for a welfare check, according to police.
Officers heard a gunshot come from the home and set up a perimeter in the area, according to police.

Police said the 35-year-old man was having a mental health episode and that they had been called to the home before. Police asked residents who live nearby to shelter in place and for motorists to avoid the area.
News reports said the man lives in the townhouse with his grandparents, who were not home when the incident happened.

The man refused officers' demands until around 10 p.m. when he finally surrendered, according to police.
Officers also recovered weapons from the home and said there was no further threat to the community, according to police.
