Important Updates From Superintendent Merritt
Here are some updates from P-CCS Superintendent Merritt.
I am excited to share with you that the Wayne County Health Department informed us last night that it is ready to begin vaccinating our staff. As you know, vaccines have been in limited supply, so it is important that we take advantage of this opportunity to get our staff vaccinated. Starting tomorrow, Friday, February 5, the Wayne County Health Department will begin vaccinating P-CCS staff, with plans to have all staff interested in receiving the first dose of the vaccine completed by Saturday, February 13.

In order to allow for all elementary Safe Start teachers that are confirmed to receive their vaccines tomorrow, elementary Safe Start students will not attend school in-person during their assigned half-day cohort time on Friday, February 5. Students will be expected to follow their regular half-day remote asynchronous learning on Friday as scheduled. There will be no change to the K-12 Virtual Academy schedule or the secondary Safe Start schedules on Friday, February 5.
As of today, WCHD has P-CCS scheduled to continue receiving vaccines next Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13. We are currently finalizing schedules, and we will update you early next week in regards to adjustments to the Friday, February 12 schedule.

As I have said in the past, I believe we need to do all we can to get our students back to the classroom as long as it is safe to do so. Getting our staff vaccinated will go a long way toward protecting the health and safety of our staff, students, and families.
I want to thank you for your patience as we work through this process. Together we are P-CCS Strong!
Yours in learning,
Monica L. Merritt
