Man, 18, Hit, Killed By Car On I-275 In Metro Detroit: Police
Police said the 18-year-old man parked his car alongside the freeway and got out and walked into traffic.
CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI — An 18-year-old man died Monday night after he was hit by a car on Interstate 275 in Wayne County, according to Michigan State Police.
The crash happened at 7:55 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Palmer Road in Canton Township, according to police.
Police said the 18-year-old Garden City man parked his car alongside the freeway and got out and walked into traffic. One driver was able to swerve and miss him, but a second car could not and struck the man, police said.

The man was killed in the crash, police said.
Both drivers remained on the scene, police said.

Investigators do not know why the man walked into traffic on the freeway.
"Troopers will interview family members to determine why the pedestrian walked into the roadway," said Michigan State Police First Lt. Mike Shaw. "Remember you are not alone.
