VA Math Teacher uses new Technology for Better Results

Virtual Academy 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Math Teacher Tina Hughey

Teaching virtually definitely comes with its challenges, especially in math class. Fortunately, P-CCS Virtual Academy Math Teacher Tina Hughey recently discovered an amazing interactive whiteboard that she uses for teaching math to her 6th, 7th and 8th grade students called whiteboard.chat.

All math teachers want to see how their students' work out their problems, but sometimes the uploaded pictures of student work pages do not come out clearly, so it's difficult to provide feedback. Now, with whiteboard.chat, Hughey can upload her Google Slides onto a board and have students work on their whiteboards as a class, or as small groups in breakout rooms.

Hughey also can use the grid-view feature to see student’s progress on the activity in real-time and clearly see their work. Student signals can be added directly to the whiteboard, such as a stoplight or thumb signals, to allow students to show their understanding of a concept. She also can add links to helpful videos or websites for easy access for students. She even uploads worksheets into whiteboard.chat and there is a feature that allows a key to be created to auto-correct the answers written on the board.

This new program is a game changer for teachers, and that really adds up.
