P-CCS Media Centers Launch Book Pick-Up Program During Virtual Learning

Each of the district's media centers has launched a program that will allow students to reserve books online.

While Plymouth-Canton Community Schools students continue to Learn, Prepare, and Thrive from home as they adapt to changing learning environments during the pandemic, P-CCS media specialists are working to keep district families connected with school media centers.

Each of the district's media centers have launched a program which will allow students to reserve books online and make arrangements to pick up the books from their home school.

"All of our media specialists have missed the time they normally spend with students helping them through literacy and media exploration," P-CCS K-12 ELA & Media Curriculum Coordinator Carrie Fromm said. "We're thrilled to be able to provide greater access to materials from our media centers during remote learning, and we look forward to continuing to serve our district families as we adapt in unique times."

While each of the media centers will have its own policies for book checkout, one constant will be strict adherence to COVID-19 safety policies when picking up materials. All of the media centers will also follow American Library Association guidelines and quarantine returned materials for a period of time before placing books back in circulation.

In all cases, students will use their school district account to reserve books at their home school library. Students who are currently enrolled in P-CCS Virtual Academy programs should reserve books at the home school they would normally attend during in-person instruction.
