HAPPY HANUKKAH to all celebrating starting this evening!
Well, it seems that winter weather is upon us. During this time of year, it becomes even more important for students to come to school dressed for the weather. Students go outside for recess twice a day, even during the winter months. We use the following guidelines to determine when it is safe for students to be outside.

When there is snow on the ground, students need a winter coat, boots, snow pants, hat and gloves to play in the snow. Wearing the appropriate gear not only keeps students warm, but it keeps students in class throughout the afternoon instead of addressing wet clothes after recess. It is highly recommended that clothing is labeled with your child’s name so we can help students find missing items. Students who do not wear snow pants and boots will not be able to play in the snow, but they will still go outside and are expected to stay on the blacktop.
If you do not currently have snow boots or snow pants for your child, please email, send a note, or call the office. We have some donated boots and snow pants to give to you. We also have some access to funds to purchase new items should you need that extra support at this time of year.
The following is our Schedule of Events for the Week of November 29, 2021
Thursday, December 2: Picture Retake Day.
SCHOOL NEWS:
There are three events scheduled between now and the winter break to help our students, staff, and families celebrate the holiday season.
1. As we return from Thanksgiving, our PTO is excited to be hosting another year of “Snowball Battle”! For those unfamiliar with the fun fundraiser, students can purchase paper snowballs to “throw” at other classes and “snow them in”. These purchased snowballs get taped to classroom doors, and the classroom with the least amount of snowballs wins! “Snowballs” can be thrown at favorite teachers* from previous years, friends, or siblings classes, but students must know the name of the teacher they are “throwing snowballs” at.
- Snowballs are available for purchase, 3 for $1.00 (Cash, Check made out to Eriksson PTO, or Venmo @Eriksson-PTO)
- Purchase as many as you like, just add more names to the form!!! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1KibBPPqulKKthW7VJib7lYFLLCQ763fSv0x8eNNqTmA/edit?usp=sharing_eil_m&ts=61967d4e
- Contest runs from November 29th thru December 14th.
- Proceeds to benefit Ms. Cottey/Eriksson Library!
2. This is also a “Last Call” for the “Cocoa at the Pond” event. This outdoor event, scheduled for Friday, December 10 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM on Eriksson's playground, will include cocoa, a decorated cookie, a take-home ornament craft, a candy cane scavenger hunt for the kids, and more.
- This event is a Pre-Sale event. Tickets for the event are $5 per participant with a deadline of THIS Wednesday, December 1st. Funds may be sent in with your student in cash, checks payable to Eriksson PTO or Venmo @Eriksson-PTO. If you pay for the event and then not show, we can not offer refunds. If you miss the deadline for preorder there will be a different wrist band that will be sold at the "door", but cookies will not be guaranteed for this option.
- The PTO is continuing to ask for volunteers to either lend an item or a small amount of your time for the Cocoa @ the Pond event. We will not be able manage all areas of the event without additional help. Please consider signing up!! https://m.signupgenius.com/?fbclid=IwAR07NhgJcyLdIpuDdC2nK81QuY1amEE3lz0L43yJXQP2JoKe5r6VnicyJfY#!/showSignUp/5080448acab2ea6fa7-eriksson
3. The Eriksson Staff has organized a Holiday “Spirit Week” for all students and staff wishing to participate during the final week of school. Please see this Holiday Spirit Week Calendar to see how students can choose to dress each day to show their school and holiday spirit!
