The Canton Police Department is continuing to focus its efforts on traffic safety around local school buildings in the community. The department has received numerous complaints about traffic around various schools in the area, specifically motorists disregarding traffic controls around the Plymouth-Canton Educational Park (Canton, Plymouth, and Salem High Schools) during the past week.
In an effort to promote safety and educate drivers, the department has assigned
additional patrol units to select school areas during peak problem hours
(morning arrival and afternoon dismissal). In addition to this increased traffic
enforcement, police encourage drivers to take advantage of other methods to
help alleviate the long lines of traffic such as carpooling or using alternate
routes if possible.
The Canton Police Department will continue to assist with the traffic issues as Plymouth-Canton Community Schools works to resolve the issue.
