Here are 5 things you need to know about student lunches in Plymouth-Canton Schools.

Back-to-school is right around the corner for Plymouth-Canton students, and with the flurry of that activity, sometimes there's just not enough time to make bag lunches from home.
So Patch caught up with Kristen Hennessey, Plymouth-Canton's Director of Food and Nutrition Services, to find out what parents should know about school lunches.
1. Over the last year there has been major changes in school lunch - The Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 was implemented.

2. Under the new guidelines, the amount and types of fruits and vegetables has increased.
3. On a weekly basis, students have been introduced to dark green, orange and red vegetables, as well as beans and other legumes.

4. 50 percent of all grain items on the menu must be whole grain.
5. Every item in school lunch must have zero trans fat and less than 10 percent calories from saturated fat and Dairy must be fat-free or 1 percent.
