Boil Water Order Ends in Rochester
A water main break in Shelby Township forced residents to boil their drinking and cooking water two days ago. City officials lifted the 'boil order' around 2:30 p.m. today.

Rochester city officials say it's now safe for residents who live east of Letica Drive to drink and cook with their tap water.Â
A "boil water order" in effect since Tuesday was lifted on Thursday afternoon.
The boil order happened after a 36-inch water main on 24 Mile Road between Schoenherr and Jewel roads broke just before noon Tuesday; shortly after, residents of Rochester's east side began reporting low water pressure, said City Manager Jaymes Vettraino.

The water pressure was restored, and crews repaired the break. But because there is a risk for contaminants to siphon their way back into a water distribution system when that system loses pressure, public health officials advised residents to boil the water until a water test could be performed.Â
The boil water order affected those living east of Letica Drive, including Village Green Apartments and Churchill Circle.Â
