Chevy Truck Runs Into A Main St. Building: Weekly Rochester Police Report

ROCHESTER, MI — Rochester police were alerted of a Chevy pickup truck that ran into a building in downtown Rochester, according to a police report.

Rochester police were dispatched to the 100 block of S Main St. on Jan. 4 at 10:00 a.m. An arriving officer found an unoccupied Chevy pickup truck partially inside a nearby business. Police say that the driver legally parked the truck and then possibly forgot to fully put it in park, causing it to roll into the building. The driver was sober and the incident has been classified as an accident. The building only suffered minor damage.

-Dec. 31, 2016 at 9:30 p.m.: A Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of University and Helen and observed a vehicle fail to stop for a stop sign. The officer completed a traffic stop and spoke with the driver and passenger, 22 and 19 year old St. Clair Shores men. The officer noticed signs that there was marijuana in the car and the occupants admitted that there was some in the vehicle. The officer performed a search and located a small amount of marijuana that had been concealed on each one of the occupants. Both were taken to the Rochester Police Department where they were booked and released with misdemeanor tickets.

- Jan. 1 at 2:00 a.m.: A Rochester officer was on patrol in the area of Second and Main and was advised that there was a witness following a possible intoxicated driver. The officer located the witness and the suspect vehicle and saw that the suspect vehicle was failing to maintain its lane of travel. The officer performed a traffic stop and spoke with the driver, a 42 year old Eastpointe woman. The officer noticed signs that the driver had been drinking and put her through field sobriety testing. The woman failed the offered tests and was taken back to the Rochester Police Department where she submitted to a breath test with results of .09% BAC. She was released when sober, charges are pending.
