AUBURN HILLS, MI — Chick-fil-A is opening a new restaurant in Auburn Hills next week, Patch learned late Thursday.

The new restaurant will open next Thursday, April 17, at 2111 N Squirrel Rd. between Walton Boulevard and University Drive, across from Oakland University.

The restaurant is locally owned and operated by Greg Russell, a metro Detroit native and former youth basketball coach in the area.

"Each step of my journey, from coaching basketball to serving in Chick-fil-A restaurants, has prepared me for becoming a local Owner-Operator, and I am so grateful for the opportunity," Russell said. "My goal is to cultivate a place where love is at the center of everything we do – serving our Guests with care, supporting our Team Members and giving back to the community."

The new Chick-fil-A in Auburn Hills comes as the restaurant plans to open between 25-30 new restaurants in Michigan over the next few years.

The restaurant will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday. It also joins 15 other restaurants in the Detroit area, including nearby locations in Shelby Township and Troy.

The popular fast-food restaurant is best known for its chicken sandwiches, waffle fries and signature Chick-fil-A dipping sauce.

To celebrate the opening, Chick-fil-A has also donated $25,000 to Feeding America to support hunger relief efforts in the area. The funds will be distributed between Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan and Forgotten Harvest.
